| Keane is sort of like Coldplay, but a little softer and a bit different stylistically. This talented band from England's hit album, Hopes and Fears, features a lot of great songs. The beats of the piano and drums as well as Tom Chaplin's haunting yet melodic voice helped stir the House of Blues crowd to cheer for songs like "This is the Last Time," "Somewhere Only We Know," and "Bend and Break." The lighting effects added to the chill-out atmosphere. The only bad thing about the concert is at House of Blues, the visibility is really bad if you don't get there quickly and get a spot on the floor or right long the edges of the floor on the first or second floors, or if you have to leave the floor for a second, such as when we did to go meet the Zutons, who opened up for Keane along with a really good band called The Redwalls who sounded a bit hippy-ish and folksy, very Beatles-ish. The Zutons, by the way, are really laid back gents and a lady from Liverpool. I met all five of them, and I am amazed that we were able to communicate, seeing that I have a slight Southern accent (though nothing compared to someone from Alabama or South Carolina) and they have thick English accents. They were awesome, and so was the concert. Keane is currently working on a second album. Zach Braff, who wrote, directed and starred in Garden State, told readers of his blog about a song by Keane he liked. Perhaps his next movie will feature a song by them on the soundtrack? That wouldn't be too bad of an idea. |
